Industrial Steel Rolling Mill & Co. is out in the Morivali M.I.D.C. area in Ambarnath. Our plot, No. 32, is right in the heart of the industrial belt. It’s a loud place, full of the sounds of heavy machinery and the smell of hot metal. This isn’t an office where you wear a suit; it’s a place where you wear boots and stay alert. We spend the day watching the rolling process and making sure the sections are coming out right. The air in Thane can get pretty thick, especially with all the factories around us, but we’ve been here long enough that it’s just normal. The factory floor is huge, and we have a small office off to the side for the billing and the phone calls. Trucks are always idling near the gate, waiting to pick up the finished loads. It’s hard work and the hours can be long when we have a big run to finish. We don't have a lot of time for small talk or fancy meetings. Most of us have been working in this mill for years, so we know the machines better than we know our own cars. It’s about getting the steel rolled and moved out. We stay busy, keep our heads down, and try to make sure everything stays on schedule despite the usual industrial hiccups that happen every now and then.
