India Fashions

Our place is tucked away in Hindustan House over at Wagale Industrial Estate. If you’ve ever driven down Road No. 22, you know it’s mostly factories and warehouses around here. It’s not the most scenic part of town, but it works for what we do at India Fashions. We’ve got a decent amount of space for the machines and the fabric rolls. The building itself has been around for a long time, so it has that old industrial feel to it. Some mornings are quite loud when the nearby units start their work, but we just turn up the radio and get on with it. We handle a lot of different garments throughout the week. It’s a lot of cutting, sewing, and checking for loose threads. Nothing stays still for very long in this room. The staff mostly comes in early to beat the heat and the traffic on the main road. We aren't trying to be something we aren't. We just provide clothes and keep the business running. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up, so we end up carrying boxes up the stairs, which is quite a workout. It’s a straightforward operation here. No one wears suits or gives big speeches. We just drink our chai, look at the patterns, and try to stay on schedule. It's a regular job for regular people who like working with their hands. We don't need much else to be happy.
