Gad Shipping & Transport Pvt.Ltd. is based in the Port Users Building. We are up on the 3rd floor. Since we’re right at J.N.P.T. Sheva, everything is about the port. You can see the cranes from some of the windows, and there’s always a line of trucks waiting somewhere nearby. The building is a bit gray and functional, which suits us just fine. We aren't here to look at pretty things; we’re here to move cargo. Our office is full of maps and schedules pinned to the walls. It’s a lot of coordination between the ships coming in and the trucks going out. We spend a lot of time on our mobile phones or talking to the guys down at the docks. The air always has a bit of that salty sea smell mixed with exhaust fumes. It’s a hard-working atmosphere. We don't have a lot of fancy furniture, just what we need to get through the day. Most of us have been in the shipping business for a long time, so we know the ropes. We usually have a bit of a laugh during our break time, but otherwise, it's pretty serious work. Things can go wrong quickly in transport, so we have to stay focused. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s a living. We’re just a small part of the whole port operation, doing our bit every day to keep things moving along.
