Devang Sutaria Stuct Consultant is based out of Krishna Estate in Badlapur West. Specifically, we’re in building D2, room 301. Hendrepada is a bit of a developing area, so there’s always some construction or new project happening around the corner. I spend most of my time looking at structural drawings and calculating loads for various buildings. The office at 301 is where all the planning happens. It’s usually covered in rolls of blueprints and sticky notes. I’ve lived and worked in this area long enough to know most of the local contractors and how the ground is around here. It’s a quiet enough spot once you get inside the estate, which helps when I need to focus on the math side of things. I don't have a big corporate team; it’s mostly just me and sometimes an assistant helping out with the site visits. We deal with the usual stuff like site inspections and making sure the concrete is poured right. Sometimes I’m in the office all day, and other times I’m out in the dust at a site in Badlapur. It’s not a glamorous job, but buildings need to stay standing, right? That’s basically what I do. I try to keep the drawings clear and the advice practical so the builders don’t have a hard time. It’s just how things work here. There is always a lot of tea involved and a lot of checking the fine details.
