We are at 201 Atharva in Chendani Koliwada. Thane West is a busy place to be, I tell you. We’ve been in this building for quite some time now. It’s not one of those fancy glass towers you see in the city. It’s more of a regular concrete building where you can hear the birds and the motorbikes zooming outside all day. Our name is C A Laxmikant Kabra Co, but most people just look for the number on the door because the sign is old. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves full of heavy files and ledgers that we’ve collected over the years. We have some old fans that creak a bit when they’re on high speed, but they work. The lighting is okay, but we prefer keeping the windows open when it isn’t raining too hard. We aren't fancy people here. We wear comfortable clothes and drink a lot of chai from the stall downstairs. Sometimes the delivery guy gets confused because the entrance is tucked away behind the main street. We spend our days looking at numbers and making sure the paperwork is right. It gets quiet in the afternoons, which is nice for focusing on the hard stuff. My desk has a stack of notebooks that I really should organize one day, but I never get to it. We have an old wall clock that’s about five minutes fast, but we never bother to fix it. It’s just how things are here in this office. We know the other folks in the building well. It’s a small community. We just do our work and head home when the sun goes down. Anyway, that's us.
