B. K. Engineers

Plot No. A-46 in the Badlapur MIDC is where we spend most of our waking hours. B. K. Engineers is an engineering unit that fits right into the industrial landscape here. The air always has that sharp smell of ozone and cutting oil. It’s a large plot, so we have room for the bigger machines that need a solid foundation. Badlapur can get really soaked during the monsoons, and sometimes the water gets uncomfortably close to the doors, but we’ve learned how to deal with it over the years. Inside, it’s all about the sound of metal being shaped. We don’t have a fancy office for meetings; most of our discussions happen right on the shop floor over the noise of the fans. It’s a practical environment. The guys wear heavy boots and work clothes that show the wear and tear of the day. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a shiny facade. We just want the equipment to work and the orders to be finished. The tea breaks are the highlight of the afternoon, giving everyone a chance to step away from the lathes for a few minutes. It’s a tough environment sometimes, especially when the summer heat builds up under the tin roof, but it’s what we know. We are just a group of people doing engineering work in an industrial zone, day in and day out.
