You can find Asian Publication down in the basement of the Sahayog Complex, over in the 7C Wing. It’s part of the Tikujiniwadi area, which stays pretty active. Being in a basement means we don’t get much natural light, but we’ve got plenty of lamps and the glow from our computer screens to keep us going. The walls are lined with stacks of books and manuscripts that never seem to get any smaller. It’s a bit of a maze in here with all the boxes of printed material waiting to be shipped out. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and the neighbors in the complex know us as the people who are always hauling heavy bags of mail or paper up the stairs. It’s a quiet kind of work, mostly reading and checking things over, interrupted by the occasional hum of a printer. The air always smells a bit like fresh ink and old paper, which is something you get used to after a week. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that. If you come to see us, you’ll likely find us hunched over a desk or packing a box on the floor. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to get the books out to the people who want them. Sometimes it’s chaotic, but mostly it’s just us doing our thing.
