Aamir Painter

We are located at Shop No-1 right in Shilphata. It’s a busy spot on the Old Pune-Mumbai Road in Mumbra. Usually, there is a lot of noise from the trucks going past the shop all day long. I have been doing this painting work for years now. My hands are almost always covered in some kind of white or yellow paint. It’s a small shop but we fit a lot of cans and brushes inside. Sometimes the shelves get a bit messy because we are constantly grabbing things for jobs. I started out working for someone else but then I decided to open this place on my own. My nephew helps me out when things get busy during the festival season. Everyone around here knows where the shop is. We spend a lot of time outside on the sidewalk mixing colors or cleaning the rollers. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the morning so we keep the shutter halfway down sometimes. It’s just honest work. We don't have a big team or anything, just a couple of us who know how to handle a brush. If you walk past you’ll probably see us sitting on the plastic chairs out front having tea. We deal with all sorts of people from the neighborhood and the surrounding areas. The traffic in Mumbra can be a headache but we are used to it by now. It’s just a normal shop and we try to keep things simple and easy for everyone.
