Siva Sakthi Vidyalaya

Out here in Podiyanoor, near Avudayanur, things are a bit slower than in the big cities. Siva Sakthi Vidyalaya is located at No 11/207/1 and we’ve been here for quite some time. Tenkasi is a beautiful area, and our school is right in the heart of this local community. We get students coming in from the surrounding villages every morning. Most of them walk or come by bicycle. The school building is simple and practical. We don’t have any fancy glass walls or air conditioning in every room. We use the natural breeze and the shade of the trees. The teachers here are very dedicated to the local families. We focus on the syllabus and make sure the kids understand their lessons. There is a lot of space around the school for gardening and playing. Sometimes you can hear the birds more than the traffic, which is nice for studying. We have our regular annual days and sports meets which the whole village attends. It’s more than just a school; it’s a place where everyone knows each other. We deal with the usual problems like leaky roofs during the monsoon or dusty floors in the summer. We just fix things and keep going. It’s a quiet life here at Podiyanoor, but we are proud of the work we do with the children from this part of Tenkasi. It feels right to be part of this landscape.
