If you ever find yourself in Wadhwan City, you might pass by Plot No. 1809-10-11 in GIDC Phase 4. That’s where we are. Kalpar Engineers is basically a big workshop filled with the sound of machines and the smell of worked metal. Being in a GIDC area means there’s always dust in the air and the constant rumble of transport vehicles passing by outside. We’ve got three plots joined together, so there’s a decent amount of space for our equipment and the guys to move around. It’s hot in Gujarat for most of the year, so the big shutters are usually kept wide open to let whatever breeze there is come through. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations or making the place look like a showroom. The focus is always on the engineering work right in front of us. Most of the staff have been here for years and they know the machines better than anyone. We drink a lot of water and tea to keep going through the shifts. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We make things that go into other machines, so precision is something we have to worry about even if the floor isn't exactly spotless. When the workday ends, we lock up the gates and head home, ready to do the same thing tomorrow. It’s simple, hard work, and that suits us just fine.
