We are over at S-2234 in the Surat Textile Market on Ring Road. Most days start early here because the market gets crowded fast. We deal with fashion and fabrics, mostly just making sure the stock is right and the orders go out when they should. It’s a small shop space but we make it work. Sometimes the stairs get blocked with bundles of cloth from the neighbors, but that’s just how it goes in this building. My brother and I usually handle the front desk while two others manage the back. We don’t have fancy displays or anything. It is mostly just shelves and stacks of material everywhere. The tea guy comes by at eleven and four, which is usually the only time we sit down for five minutes. Dealing with customers from all over means the phone rings a lot. Some days are slow, while others we can barely find a place to stand. We've been in this specific spot for a few years now. The Ring Road traffic is always a mess in the evening, so we try to pack up before it gets too bad. It’s just regular work, nothing too complicated. We just try to keep things moving and stay on top of the paperwork which always seems to pile up on the small desk in the corner. We don't have a big marketing team, just our names on the door and our phone number on the cards we give out.
