Amatullah Ridas

Amatullah Ridas is located at No. 501 in the Vishnu Apartment on Tower Road. Being up on the fifth floor is nice because it gets us away from the immediate noise of the street, though you can still hear the honking from down below. We are quite close to Maskati Hospital, which is a major landmark in this part of town. Our workspace is basically an apartment that we have turned into a place for making ridas. There are rolls of fabric in the corners and threads of all different colors scattered on the tables. It is a homey kind of environment, not like a factory at all. We have sewing machines set up where the light is best near the windows. During the day, the sun comes in and makes it a bright place to sit and work on the designs. It is a lot of repetitive work, cutting and stitching, but it is what we know how to do. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up and we have to walk the stairs, which is a bit of a workout. We have our regulars who know exactly where to find us in the building. It is a quiet, steady pace of life here. We just focus on the fabric and making sure the patterns look right. It is a simple setup but it works for what we need.
