Varun Dresses

Varun Dresses is located on the upper floor of the New Bombay Market in Umarwada. Our unit numbers are B-1219 and 1220. Being on the upper floor means it’s a bit quieter than the ground level, but only just. Surat is a busy city for clothes and we are right in the middle of that. We handle dresses and other ready-made items. The space is filled with racks and boxes. Sometimes it's hard to walk through the aisles when we have a big delivery, but we manage to keep it moving. We’ve been at this location for some time now. It’s a family-run kind of feel here. My cousin handles the accounts and I look after the stock and the workers. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. Our customers are mostly other shopkeepers who have known us for years. We drink a lot of tea and talk to the neighbors about how the market is doing. The New Bombay Market is a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it. We try to keep our area clean, but with all the cardboard and plastic, it’s a constant battle. We don't make big promises. We just show up every morning, open the shutters, and start working on the orders that came in the night before. It’s a simple way of living and it suits us just fine. We just take it one day at a time and try to stay on top of things.
