You can find us at K-6 in the Old Bombay Market. If you’ve ever been to this market, you know it’s a maze of shops and people moving boxes around. Our office is a small spot where we handle all the travel bookings. It’s usually piled high with papers, ledgers, and old calendars on the walls. The phones don’t stop ringing, mostly people asking about bus timings or if there are any seats left for the weekend trips. We have been in this same corner for years. The market gets really crowded in the afternoons, so sometimes it’s hard for people to even find our door among all the textile shops. We don’t have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. It’s just a few desks and some chairs for people to sit while we look up their tickets on the computer. My uncle started this, and now a few of us keep it going. We know most of the drivers and the other travel agents in the area. We spend our days drinking tea and talking to customers about where they need to go. It’s a simple business, really. We just try to get the details right so nobody ends up stuck at a station somewhere. Dealing with the public can be tiring, but the market energy keeps us moving. We just stay focused on the work at hand and wait for the evening rush to die down before we head home.
