Avani Collection

Avani Collection is tucked away at G-6 in the Shaktivijay Society on L H Road, right near Rander Road. It’s a small shop, mostly filled with stacks of fabric and ready-made clothes that we try to keep as tidy as possible. Some days it feels like a losing battle because people like to pull things out from the bottom of the pile to see the patterns. We don't mind too much, it’s just part of the job. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but we have a big window that lets in some sun during the afternoon. We spend a lot of time folding and refolding things. It’s mostly just me and a helper here. We talk to the ladies from the society about the latest styles, but we don't try to push anything on them. If something doesn't look right, we usually say so. The mirrors are a bit old and have a few spots on them that won't come off, but they do the job. We have a small stool for people to sit on if they get tired of looking through the racks. The hangers always get tangled up, which is one of those small daily frustrations we just deal with. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when the new stock arrives and we have to find room for all the new boxes in this tiny space. We just enjoy seeing people find something they actually like wearing. It’s a simple neighborhood clothing store, nothing more than that.
