We are located at B-302 in the Utsav Building, which is right by the Tapi Hotel in Nana Varachha. This part of Surat, specifically bhathena, stays pretty busy from morning until night. We spend most of our time here inside the shop, just sorting through the new arrivals that come in every week. It’s not a big fancy place, but it works for us. Usually, I’m the one who opens up the shutters in the morning. I like the smell of the shop before the crowds get here. We have a few racks that we keep moving around to try and make more space. It always feels a bit crowded though. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to say hello or have some tea. We don't really do much in the way of advertising. Most people find us because they were already staying at the hotel or they live nearby. The building itself is okay, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb if you’re carrying heavy bags. We try to keep the windows clean so the light comes in. My cousin helps me with the bookkeeping on Saturdays. It’s a lot of manual work, checking the seams and making sure the buttons are on tight. We aren't trying to change the world. We just like clothes and being part of this neighborhood. It’s a decent way to spend the day.
