Our place is 2030 in the Jash Textile Market. If you’ve ever been near Sahara Darwaja on Ring Road, you know how crazy the traffic and the crowds can be. It is one of the busiest spots in Surat. We are right in the thick of it, surrounded by thousands of other shops and traders. Our space is filled with rolls of fabric and samples of different materials. It’s not a quiet office; there are always people shouting, porters carrying heavy loads on their backs, and the sound of motorcycles outside. We handle a lot of the export and import stuff for textiles. Most of our day is spent checking the quality of the cloth or talking to people about shipping dates. The Ring Road area is always dusty and loud, but that’s where the business happens. We don’t have much room for anything other than the textiles and a couple of desks for the paperwork. We’ve been here for years, and we’ve seen the market grow and change. It is a tough environment but it’s honest. We don’t use any big fancy words to describe ourselves. We just move fabric from one place to another and make sure the buyers get what they paid for. Sometimes the electricity goes out or the street gets flooded during the rains, but we just keep going. It’s just the way it is in the textile heart of the city.
