We are up on the first floor here at the Surat Textile Market. It's usually pretty crowded by ten in the morning. We spend a lot of time just moving boxes around and trying to keep the shelves halfway decent. Being on the Ring Road means there is always traffic and noise right outside our door. The shop isn't huge, but it gets the job done. We mostly deal with whatever comes in from the suppliers each week. Sometimes the colors are exactly what we asked for, and other times they aren't, but that is just how it goes in this business. Most of our days are spent talking to people who walk in looking for something specific for a wedding or just for daily wear. It gets dusty pretty fast with all the fabric around. My brother and I take turns managing the counter while the boys help with the heavy lifting. We’ve been at C-2002 for a while now. The lighting in the back is a bit dim, but we know where everything is kept. If someone asks for a specific print, we usually find it eventually. It is a lot of folding and unfolding all day long. Lunch is usually just something quick from the stall downstairs because there’s no time to sit for an hour. By the time we close up, the floor is covered in scraps. It's just a normal shop in a big market.
