I run Sona Fashion from my apartment at Vivekand Apartment in Adajan. My unit is A-204. It’s not a traditional shop on a main street. I decided to start this business from home to keep things simple. I have one room dedicated to all the clothes and samples. Most of my customers are women from the surrounding buildings or friends of friends. It’s a very personal way of doing business. I don’t have a big staff. It’s mostly just me, though my sister helps out when things get busy during the wedding season. We sit in the living room and look at different fabrics and designs. It’s much quieter than being in a big market. Adajan is a nice residential area, so it feels very safe and local. I don’t have a big budget for fancy displays. I just hang the clothes on a few racks I bought. People like coming here because they can take their time and they don't feel rushed. We usually end up talking about our families while we look at the fashion items. I’ve lived in Vivekand Apartment for a long time, so everyone knows me. I don’t do any big promotions. Word of mouth has always been enough to keep me busy. It’s a small operation, and I like it that way. I drink a lot of coffee while working and watching the street from my window.
