Working at Millenium Textile Market is a bit like being in a maze. Our shop is D-2159-60, which is a double unit, so we have a bit more elbow room than some of our neighbors. Still, with all the fabric rolls we keep, it feels small very quickly. Being on Ring Road means we are always near the action. The noise of the city is constant, but inside the market, it’s mostly the sound of packing tape and people negotiating prices. We start the day by sweeping the floor and opening the shutters. Then it is just a long list of things to do until night. We see a lot of people from out of town who come to Surat just for the textiles. Sometimes we help them find other shops if they are looking for something we don't have. It’s a friendly enough place despite how busy everyone is. My chair is a bit old and squeaks every time I move, but I’ve had it since we started here at Shubhlaxmi Fashions. We don't really have a fancy office setup. It is just a counter, some ledgers, and lots of stock. We take our tea in small glass cups from the guy who walks around the floor. It’s just a normal day-to-day business life for us here in the Millenium Market. We keep doing the same things and it works out for us.
