Shivam Nursery

Shivam Nursery is located right on Udhana Magdalla Road, just in the K S S I D C Industrial Estate area. If you look opposite Vidya Bharti School, you will see our gate with all the green sticking out. It is a bit of a dusty spot because of all the traffic and the industrial buildings nearby, but once you walk inside, it feels a lot cooler because of all the plants we keep. We spend most of our day hauling heavy mud pots around and making sure the hose reaches every corner of the lot. Some days the mosquitoes are a real problem because of the water, but that is part of the job when you deal with nature in the middle of a city. We have a lot of different saplings, from small flowering ones to bigger trees that people take for their backyards. The school kids walk past every afternoon, and sometimes their parents stop in to ask about a plant that died or how to fix their soil. We are usually covered in dirt by lunchtime, and the sun can be quite brutal out here on the road. We do not have fancy displays or anything like that, just rows of plastic bags with plants and piles of manure in the back. It is a lot of physical labor, keeping everything alive in the heat, but we like being surrounded by all the green leaves instead of just concrete.
