Shibori Fashion

Shibori Fashion is situated at K-11 in the old Bombay market in Umarwada, Surat. If you have ever been to the old Bombay market, you know it is a maze of shops and stalls. We are tucked in there among all the other textile and fashion businesses. It is a very lively place to work. Every morning, the market wakes up with people hauling goods and shouting to one another. We focus on our fashion pieces, particularly things that involve the shibori style or other types of fabric work. Our shop is small, so we have to use every inch of space we have for storage and display. It gets cramped when customers come in, but that is part of the charm of the old market. We’ve been in Surat for years, and this market is like a second home to us. We see the same faces every day. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the trends and making sure we have what people are asking for. Sometimes we are here late into the evening getting everything ready for the next day’s rush. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on being here in the market and having people find us by walking through the aisles. It is a traditional way of doing business that still works for us. We just keep our heads down and keep the shop running.
