Our place is located in the Katargam Darwaja area of Surat, which is where a lot of the diamond work happens. We are up on the second floor of Shreeji Darshan Apartments, right behind the Paras police chowky. It’s a busy neighborhood, full of workshops and people moving stones. We’ve been in this building for a long time. The office is small and usually filled with the sound of work. We handle diamonds, looking at them closely and sorting them out. It’s a job that requires a lot of patience and good lighting. Most of us here have been working with stones since we were young. It’s what Surat is known for, after all. We don't have a fancy showroom with carpets. It’s more of a practical space where we can focus. There are always people coming in from the nearby markets or other apartments to discuss deals. We keep things pretty simple. No big marketing campaigns, just local business. The area around Bhaichand Angar is always crowded, especially in the afternoons. We just stay in our office and get through the day’s lot. Sometimes the power goes out or it gets too hot, but we keep moving. It’s just the way the diamond trade works here. We know the stones and we know the people we deal with every day. Most of the business is built on long-term relationships and just doing the job right every morning.
