Shalini Fashions Pvt. Ltd. is tucked away in the Unity Estate over in Bhestan. We’re in unit D-8 of Jalan House. If you’re looking for us, you have to navigate through a lot of other businesses in the estate first. It’s a practical sort of place. We have rows of sewing machines and tables for cutting fabric. It’s usually pretty loud with the hum of the motors and people talking over the noise. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. Most of our space is taken up by boxes and racks of clothes waiting to be shipped out. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we make it work. We’ve got a mix of older workers who have been sewing for decades and some younger folks just starting out. We don’t have a big marketing team or a fancy office. My desk is right in the middle of everything, piled high with fabric samples and order forms. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck in the narrow lanes of the estate, and we have to go out and help them navigate. It’s just part of the day here. We focus on the garments and getting them finished on time. We’re not trying to be the biggest company out there, just a steady one that does its work in Bhestan every single day without a lot of fuss or unnecessary drama. It keeps us busy.
