S S Readymade

You can find us over at B 8 on Old Kasai Road, near where it meets City Light Road. It’s a busy corner of the world, that’s for sure. S S Readymade is just a regular shop where we sell clothes that are ready to go. No waiting around for tailoring here. The building is a bit older, but it holds up well enough. We spend a lot of time organizing the racks because people tend to mix everything up when they’re looking through the sizes. It’s a lot of blue jeans and shirts mostly. City Light Road always has something going on, so there’s plenty to see out the window if things get quiet. We try to keep things simple. If someone wants a shirt, they buy a shirt. We don’t try to talk them into anything they don’t need. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, and we just wait it out with the door open for the breeze. It’s not a fancy boutique with mirrors everywhere. Just a few racks and a small counter where I sit. I’ve lived in this area my whole life, so I know most of the people who walk past. It’s a decent way to earn a living. We just keep on going, day after day, keeping the shop open for the neighborhood. It is a small business but it works for us.
