Rukmani Fashions

Our place, Rukmani Fashions, is located at L/17 in the Old Bombay Market over in Umarwada. This part of the market has been around for a long time, and you can definitely tell. The walls have some marks and the floors are worn down from all the feet passing through over the years. We stay busy here from morning until the market shuts down at night. Being in the Old Bombay Market means we see all sorts of people coming through. It’s not a shiny new mall or anything like that. It’s a real working market. We spend our time checking orders and making sure everything is stacked properly on the shelves. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty with all the fabric moving around, but that's just how it is in this trade. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because we'd rather just focus on the clothes and getting things out on time. My brother and I usually run the shop together, and we've got a couple of helpers for the heavy lifting. The tea stall right outside our lane makes the best ginger tea, which helps on the long afternoons. It is a straightforward business. We show up, do the work, and go home. That's really all there is to it for us. It isn't much, but it's what we do every single day here.
