Our workshop is down at 4/1558 in Nirvan Akhada, right in the heart of Begumpara in Surat. This area is famous for textile stuff, so we fit right in with the neighbors. It’s a bit of an old building, but it works for what we do. We have machines going most of the day, making that humming sound you hear all over this part of Surat. It’s not a quiet place, but we like it that way. We spend our hours looking at threads and patterns, making sure the designs come out okay. Sometimes the machines act up or we run out of a certain color, and we have to run out and find it. It's a very hands-on kind of job. We aren't big on fancy decorations in the office. We mostly have samples lying around and stacks of fabric waiting to be worked on. The guys here have been doing this for years, so they know the rhythm of the work. Begumpara is always busy, and there’s always something happening on the street outside. We just stay focused on the embroidery. It's hard work and it gets dusty, but it’s what we know. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. People usually find us by word of mouth or because they’ve seen our work around the city. We just keep at it, day after day, trying to do a decent job with the materials we have.
