Ruchi Masala

Ruchi Masala is based at Plot No. 3-4 in Om Sai Nagar, right near Jalaram Nagar in Udhna. We are located just opposite Bharat Nagar, so it’s a pretty easy spot to find if you are in the neighborhood. Our facility is basically two plots joined together, which gives us some decent space for the spice work. It’s a residential-industrial mix around here, so there are always kids playing nearby and people walking to the shops. The air around our building usually smells like turmeric or chili, depending on what we are processing that day. We have a small crew of workers who handle the grinding and the packing. It’s not a high-tech operation; we use standard machines and a lot of manual labor to get things right. The office is just a small cabin at the front where we keep the records and take phone calls. Sometimes we have to move the bags out onto the pavement when the delivery truck arrives because the entrance is a bit narrow. It gets hot in the summer, and the fans never seem to be enough, but we manage. We aren't trying to build an empire here. We just want to make sure the masala is ready for the local shops that buy from us. It’s a steady life and we like the people we work with. No big plans, just daily work in Udhna. We often have to shoo the stray cats away from the front gate in the mornings.
