Dhanda Masala is based out of the Bhagal Meghal Industrial Estate, inside Dhanhar House. Being in an industrial estate means it’s always loud with trucks and machinery, but that’s just how it goes here. We deal with spices and masala blends, so the smell around our unit is actually quite nice most days. Some days the chili powder gets in the air and everyone starts sneezing, but we’re used to it by now. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s mostly just sacks of raw materials and the grinders we use. Everything is practical. We spend our mornings sorting through things and making sure the quality is what it should be. It’s hard work and your hands get stained by the turmeric, but it’s honest work. We don't use any big marketing words to describe what we do. We just make masala and sell it to shops and people who know us. My father started this and now we just keep it going as best as we can. The floor is usually covered in a bit of spice dust, and we have to sweep it a few times a day. We don't have a big website or anything. Most people find us because someone told them we have good stuff. If you come by Dhanhar House, just follow your nose and you’ll find us easily enough. It’s a busy place but we always have time for a quick talk.
