We’ve been at Shri Sai Ram Textile Market for a good while now. Our place is at 528-529, right across from Jash Market on Ring Road. Surat is a busy town for anyone in the cloth trade, as most folks know. We mostly just focus on getting our daily work finished. There are cardboard boxes stacked up in the corners and the telephone rings more than I’d like. We don't really do the whole fancy office thing with glass doors. It is more about the fabrics and making sure the orders get to the right people without too many delays. Some days it is really hectic with all the traffic and noise from the street. People stop by to ask for prices or just to look at our samples. We try to keep things simple here and not overcomplicate the day. My family has been around this area for years, so we know most of the neighbors in the building. If you are walking down Ring Road, you have probably seen our sign out front. We handle various types of clothing, mostly stuff people wear for their regular lives. Nothing too fancy or experimental. We just open up the shutters in the morning, have some tea, and start checking what needs to be packed and sent out. It involves a lot of manual work, moving rolls of cloth and keeping track of all the bills. Sometimes we make mistakes with the paperwork, but we always fix them eventually. It is just how things go.
