Started at Shri Sai Ram Textile Market quite some time ago now. We are right over at 528-529, which is basically across from Jash Market on the busy Ring Road in Surat. Most days start with the sound of trucks unloading and the general noise of the market waking up. It gets pretty crowded around here by midday, especially with everyone trying to navigate the narrow lane near our shop. We spend most of our hours sorting through different materials and talking to the people who drop by. The Ring Road traffic is something you just get used to after a while, though it still makes getting to work a bit of a project every morning. We’ve stayed in this same spot for a reason, even if the walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the desk is always covered in loose threads and scraps of paper. It is a working space first and foremost. Sometimes we grab tea from the stall nearby and just watch the chaos of the textile trade happen right outside our door. It is not always glamorous, but it is what we do. Handling the fashion side of things here means staying on your feet and making sure the stock is where it needs to be. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that, just our inventory and a couple of chairs for when the feet get tired.
