Maruti Weaving Mills

No. 567 in Silk City is where we spend most of our days. It is a noisy place because the looms are always running, but we have gotten used to the sound over the years. We are just a local weaving mill doing what we know best. There is nothing fancy about our setup here. It is mostly just rows of machines and piles of yarn waiting to be used. A few of us have been working on these floors for a long time. We know how to fix the machines when they act up and how to keep the threads from tangling. It is a lot of manual work and your hands get tired by the end of the shift. The air is often filled with tiny bits of lint, so we try to keep things swept up as much as we can. We do not have a big corporate office or a marketing team. If you visit us, you will see us in our work clothes just getting the job done. We drink a lot of tea to keep our energy up during the long afternoons. Sometimes the heat in the shed gets to be a bit much, but we just keep going. We like how the fabric turns out, even if it is just a regular day of work for us. It is how we make our living and we have been doing it this way for a long time.
