Raj Powder Coaters & Spray Painting Works

Raj Powder Coaters and Spray Painting Works is over at unit 234 in the Udhna Yard New Estate. If you’ve ever been to the yard, you know it’s a huge place with a lot of different workshops. Our shop is easy to spot because there’s usually some metal frames or parts sitting out front waiting to be moved. Inside, it’s a mix of the smell of wet paint and the fine dust from the powder coating booth. We have a big oven in the back for curing the powder, and that thing radiates heat all day long. My shirt is usually stuck to my back by noon. We do a lot of spray painting too, so one side of the shop is partitioned off with plastic sheets. It’s not the cleanest environment, but that’s the nature of the work. We spend a lot of time prepping the surfaces, sanding things down and cleaning off the grease. If you don't do the prep right, the paint won't stick, and then we have to do it all over again. We have a small corner with a few chairs where we sit for our afternoon tea. The Udhna Yard is always loud with the sound of trucks and other shops grinding or hammering. We just fit into the noise. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and moving heavy items around, but we’re used to it by now.
