Painter M Vijay Kumar

My name is M Vijay Kumar and I work as a painter on Udhna Poona Street. I have been in this spot for quite some time now. Being a painter isn't a fancy job. Most of my day is spent with my hands in paint or carrying heavy ladders from one place to another. Poona Street is a busy area, but it’s where I have my small base of operations. I don't have a big team of people. It’s usually just me or maybe one or two others helping out if there is a lot of wall to cover. My shop is simple. It is mostly just a place to store my brushes, cans, and cloths. You can usually tell what I’ve been working on by the color of the stains on my shirt. People in Udhna know me as a local guy who just gets the work done. I don't have a website or any big advertisements. Word of mouth is usually how people find me. I like the physical nature of the work, even though it makes my back ache by the time evening comes around. The street has its own rhythm, and I feel like I’m a part of it. I don't try to be anything I’m not. I just show up to the job site, do the painting, and make sure everything is clean before I leave. It is a simple, honest way to live.
