Mayra Fashion

Mayra Fashion is located at E-88 in Matrushakti Society, which is over in the Punagam area. Since we are inside a society, it feels more like a home than a regular store. We have turned part of the space into a display area for the clothes we have. There are piles of fabric here and there and a sewing machine that hums most of the day. It’s not a polished boutique with fancy mirrors. We just have a few racks and some hangers on the walls. Most of the people who come by are neighbors or friends of friends. It’s a quiet street for the most part, except when kids are playing outside in the evenings. We spend a lot of time checking the stitching and making sure the colors look right. Sometimes we sit on the floor to sort through the new arrivals because there isn't much table space left. My hands are usually busy with a needle or a measuring tape. We don't have a website or anything; we just talk to whoever walks through the door. It’s a bit cluttered with thread spools and scrap pieces of cloth, but that’s just how we work. We like being in the society because it’s comfortable and we don't have to deal with the main road noise. It’s a small operation, just us doing what we know. We often have some tea and snacks ready in case a regular customer stops by to chat while they look.
