Pearl Fashion

Our workshop is at 71 Narayan Industrial Estate. It’s near the Anjana Farm area right by Ring Road. It’s a very industrial part of town so there are trucks and machinery noise all day long. We have a lot of space here which is good because we deal with a lot of bulk fabric. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a fancy shopping experience. It’s where the actual work gets done. We have sewing machines going and people moving bundles around. The floor is usually covered in thread and scraps of cloth by three in the afternoon. We try to sweep up but it just gets messy again. Being near Ring Road is helpful for getting our goods out to the transporters but the traffic is a nightmare for us every evening. My brother manages the machines and I handle the paperwork and the customers. We don't have a fancy reception desk. You just walk in and someone will help you. We aren't trying to be the biggest fashion house in India. We just want to do our jobs and get the orders out on time. It’s hard work and the air is always thick with the smell of new fabric. That’s just how it is at Narayan Industrial Estate. We’ve been here long enough that we don't notice the noise anymore.
