Our little shop is over in Udhna Shanti Nagar at 54/1. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the main markets but we still stay quite busy with repairs. Most of the day I am sitting at the back bench with a magnifying glass and a soldering iron. People bring in phones that have been dropped or stopped working for no reason. I have a lot of tiny screws and parts organized in plastic trays so I don’t lose them. The walls are painted a light color but they have some marks from moving furniture around. We have a couple of chairs for people to sit on while they wait for a quick fix. Sometimes it’s just a matter of cleaning out the charging port or putting in a new battery. I like the work because it keeps my hands busy. The neighborhood children sometimes peek in through the door to see what I’m working on. It’s a humble place without any big neon signs or bright lights. We just have the one main desk and a shelf for the phones that are waiting to be picked up. My eyes get a bit tired by the evening from looking at the small screens. But it’s good to see someone’s face when their phone turns back on and all their photos are still there.
