Chhakkapir Gali is a bit hard to find if you aren't from around Sector 5. It’s a narrow lane, but it’s where Nicku Mobiles has been sitting for years. We are surrounded by other small shops and people living their lives. The shop is basically a single room filled with phone stuff. I have a lot of old models in the drawers that I use for parts. Sometimes the kids from the neighborhood come in just to look at the new screens. I tell them not to touch too much. It’s a slow-paced kind of place. I start the day by cleaning the display phones. The light in the lane isn't great, so we have some bright tubes inside that buzz a little. I spend a lot of my time hunched over a workbench with a magnifying glass. My eyes get tired, so I take breaks to walk to the end of the alley. People know me as the guy who can usually find a fix for a broken screen. I don’t use any big machines, just my hands and some basic tools. The walls have some scuffs where boxes were stacked too high. We don't really have a waiting area, so people just stand around and talk while I work. It feels like a community spot more than a business sometimes. We don't have a big sign, just a small one over the door. It’s enough for the people who live here and know where to find us.
