Our place is on the third floor of the Ambika Industrial Estate in the Saroli area. It is PL-37 if you are looking for it. Saroli is a busy part of Surat, mostly full of industrial buildings and trucks everywhere. We work out of this floor and it gets quite busy with the sewing machines and people moving around all day. Being on the third floor means we have to use the freight lift quite a lot. It is not a glamorous spot, just a regular industrial unit where we make our clothes. The air in Variav can be a bit humid, but we have gotten used to it by now. We spend most of our time looking at patterns and different types of fabrics. There is always a pile of something that needs to be sorted out. It is just a handful of us running the show here. We do not have big formal meetings; we just talk over the cutting tables while we work. Sometimes we end up staying late when a big shipment is due to go out. The industrial estate has its own rhythm, with the sound of machinery everywhere you go. It is a decent place to work if you don't mind a bit of noise. We keep things simple here. No big corporate rules or anything, just making sure the fashion pieces are ready to go. It is honest work and we do it every day from this warehouse space.
