Master Watch & Mobile

Over at Mangalwadi on Udhna Girgaon Road, we run Master Watch & Mobile. It’s an interesting mix because one side of the shop is full of tiny watch gears and leather straps, while the other side is all about modern smartphones. I grew up learning how to fix mechanical watches, but you have to change with the times, so we started doing mobiles too. Most days I’m switching between using a tiny screwdriver for a watch back and a heat gun for a phone screen. The road outside is always packed with traffic, so there is a constant hum of engines. People come in to get their watch batteries replaced or to find a new screen protector for their device. It’s a lot of detail work that can really tire out your eyes after a few hours. We have old clocks on the wall that tick at different times, and glass cases full of various watch brands. The mobile side of the business keeps us very busy because everyone has a phone these days, but the watches are what we’ve been doing the longest. It’s a small family-run type of place, and we don't have any help, so we do everything ourselves. We keep the shop open six days a week and just take things as they come. It’s a steady life here in the Mangalwadi area, surrounded by clocks and tech.
