Manoj Radio Service

Manoj Radio Service has been a part of Surat for many years now. It’s a small shop, maybe smaller than most people expect when they first walk in. There are wires and old components everywhere you look. We spend most of our time hunched over a workbench with a soldering iron in hand. It’s quiet work, mostly, unless we’re testing a speaker to see if the crackling has finally stopped. A lot of the things people bring in are quite old, but they want to keep them for the memories. We do what we can with the parts we can find. Sometimes we have to take parts from one old machine to fix another. It’s a bit of a puzzle every day. The shelves are packed with radios that have been waiting for parts for weeks. We aren't in any rush to become a big company. We like the way things are. People come in to chat as much as they do to get things fixed. The smell of hot solder is always in the air. We don't have a website or anything like that. Just the shop and the tools we've used for decades. It’s a simple way to spend the day. Surat has grown a lot around us but we just stay here fixing what's broken. The fan above the bench makes a steady hum that we don't even notice anymore. It is just us and the electronics.
