M R Dana Chan

Our shop, M R Dana Chan, is tucked away on Jeweller Street in Bardoli. We are quite close to Commercial Street too, so there is always a lot of foot traffic. We deal with a lot of different grains and snacks. The bags are heavy and we spend a good part of the day moving them around. It’s a bit dusty in here sometimes because of the roasted items. We have these big jars where we keep everything. You can hear the crunch when someone tries a sample. The lighting isn't the best, but you can see what you're buying. We’ve been on this street for quite a while. Most of the other shop owners around here are our friends. We chat while we sweep the front of the shops. It’s a traditional kind of place. We don't use any modern computers for the bills, just a notepad and a pen. Sometimes we forget where we put the stapler. The shelves are made of thick wood and they've seen better days. But they hold the weight of the dana and chan just fine. Bardoli is a place where people appreciate things that have been around for a long time. We aren't a big corporation. We are just a small shop on a narrow street doing our best to keep the jars full. We just keep our business going as best as we can. It's a lot of scooping and weighing throughout the day.
