Krishna Video CD & Mobile Care

You can find us on Old Padra Road 2 in Surat. We’ve been in this little shop for a long time now. It started out when everyone was buying video CDs to watch movies at home. We still have some of those old discs tucked away in the back, though nobody asks for them much anymore. These days, most of our time is spent fixing mobile phones. It is a different kind of work, much more delicate. I use a small soldering iron and have to be very careful with my eyes. The shop is quite narrow and the shelves are filled with phone cases, chargers, and boxes of spare parts. It’s a bit of a mess, honestly, but I know where the tools are. People drop in all day with phones that won't turn on or have smashed screens. I try to be honest about how long it will take and what it will cost. Sometimes I can fix it in an hour, other times I have to wait for a part to arrive. My brother helps out in the evenings after his other job. We have a small TV in the corner that we keep on for the news. It’s a busy street outside, so there’s always something to look at through the window. It’s a good little business for us and it keeps us right in the middle of the community.
