I spend most of my days at the Shashwat Flats in Katargam. My setup is in A/203 and sometimes I’m up in 403 depending on what needs doing. Kishor Mistry is just me and a couple of helpers when the work gets heavy. It’s a busy area and the flats are always full of people moving around. My workspace is usually messy with shavings and bits of hardware scattered on the floor. I try to sweep up every evening but by ten the next morning it looks the same again. People from the other blocks come by to ask if I can fix a door or look at a cabinet. I usually have my tape measure clipped to my belt and a pencil behind my ear. The elevators in the building are sometimes slow, so I end up taking the stairs more than I’d like. It’s good exercise though. Katargam gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the windows open to get a breeze through the flat. We don't have a big sign outside or anything, people just know which flat to knock on. I’ve lived and worked around here for a long time now. The Shashwat Flats are like a small village on their own. We just keep our heads down and finish the work we promised. Sometimes we stay late to finish a piece if the customer is in a hurry to move in.
