Virang Knit Co

Virang Knit Co is based at 21 Rameshwar Society. It’s more of a residential-feeling area, which makes for a quieter workday compared to the big industrial zones. We started this in a small room and eventually took over more of the space at number 21. We do a lot of knitting work here. The machines have a specific rhythm that you start to hear even when you aren't at work. Most of us have been working with yarn and needles for a long time. It’s a bit of a craft, but it’s also just a lot of repetitive motion. We make sure the tension is right and the colors match up like they’re supposed to. Rameshwar Society is a nice place to be located. We know our neighbors and try not to make too much noise late at night. Sometimes the yarn deliveries take up the whole driveway, but we move them inside as fast as we can. We don't have a fancy showroom. If someone wants to see what we're making, they just come into the workroom. There are piles of sweaters and fabric pieces everywhere. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. We don't spend money on big ads because we're usually busy enough with the work we already have. It’s a steady life and we like the independence of running our own small shop.
