Our place is at Number 34 in Laxman Nagar, over in the Kapodara area. It’s a neighborhood where a lot of textile work happens all day long. We have a small shop that is usually full of fabrics and half-finished garments. There are threads all over the floor and the sound of sewing machines is pretty constant from morning until we close. We don't have a big fancy window display to show off. Instead, we have racks of clothes that we’ve been working on throughout the week. Some of the walls are covered in sketches or fabric swatches that we’ve pinned up over the months. It’s a bit cluttered, but that’s just how we work. The light coming through the front door is usually the best place to check the colors of the thread against the cloth. We have a few long tables where we cut the fabric. It takes a lot of patience to get everything lined up properly. People from the neighborhood often drop by to see what we are making or just to chat for a bit. We don’t have much room for a lobby, so customers usually just stand by the cutting table while we talk. Kapodara is a busy spot and there is always someone moving bundles of cloth on motorcycles outside. We just keep our heads down and focus on the stitching. It is hard work but we like it here. Our shop is small but it serves us well for what we do every day.
