Kamla Hardware Mart

Kamla Hardware Mart has been sitting here on Station Road for years, right by the Pani Ki Tanki and not far from Rajat Hospital. We’re at number 4/896-99, which covers a few shop fronts that we’ve knocked together over time. It’s a busy spot because everyone uses Station Road to get across town. We sell all sorts of hardware, from basic nails and hammers to more specific plumbing fittings. The shelves are packed tight, and sometimes it takes me a minute to find exactly where we put the smaller washers or screws. It’s a bit of a maze inside, but we know where everything is. My family has been running this store, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot. We don’t use any fancy computer systems for the inventory; we mostly just keep a close eye on the stock and write things down in our big ledger. People stop by on their way home from work to pick up things they need for repairs. We aren’t trying to compete with the big malls. We just provide what the local builders and homeowners need at a fair price. The shop floor is worn down from years of footsteps, and the ceiling fan wobbles a bit, but it’s a comfortable place to spend the day. Sometimes we have to move a few buckets of paint just to make space for someone to stand at the counter. It's crowded but it works for us.
