Jay Khodiyar Creation

Jay Khodiyar Creation is tucked away in the basement of Bombay Market in Umarwada. Being in N-30 Basement means we don't get much sunlight, but it’s cooler down here when the Surat heat gets really bad outside. Bombay Market is a huge place and it can be overwhelming for some, but we like being in the middle of it. We mostly focus on creations that people use for clothes, bits of design and fabric that go into making something look nice. The shop is filled with shelves and there’s barely enough room to walk sometimes when we have a big delivery arrive. We spend most of our time sorting through patterns and making sure we have what people are looking for. It’s a busy life, always something to count or pack. People come down to the basement specifically looking for us, which is nice. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us making sure everything stays on track. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk, while other days we can't even take a lunch break because of the rush. That’s just the way retail works in a place like this. We've been at this spot for a while and the neighbors in the other basement shops are all friendly. It's a decent place to work and we have gotten used to the underground life. We just take it one day at a time and try to keep things moving.
