You can find us at Jay Ambe Fashion on the first floor of Mahalaxmi Market. We are right on Ring Road in Surat, which is probably one of the busiest streets for clothes in the whole country. Our shop is number 1061, and it’s right across from the main Textile Market. If you come by during the day, you’ll hear the constant honking of trucks and the shouts of people moving bundles of sarees and dress materials. Our space is filled from floor to ceiling with stock. It’s a bit cramped, but we know where everything is. We don't bother with a lot of decorations because the fabric itself provides enough color. We spend our time talking to wholesalers and checking the latest prints that come in from the mills. Some days are slow, but most of the time we are rushing to get orders packed before the transport offices close for the evening. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the market prices. It’s a straightforward life. We aren't trying to change the world; we are just trying to sell good clothes to people who need them. Being on the first floor means we get a bit of a breeze sometimes, which is nice when it gets humid in the summer. It's a real Surat business through and through, where work starts early and ends late.
