You can find us at the Kadodara Variyava Shopping Centre, right near the Gandhi Pump at the Char Rasta. It’s a hectic intersection, so there’s always the sound of horns and engines in the background while I’m working. My shop is focused on the electrical side of things, so I spend a lot of time bent over engines looking at wires and fuses. It’s greasy work, and I usually have a rag tucked into my pocket to wipe my hands every five minutes. The shopping centre has a lot of different businesses, but we’re the ones with the batteries stacked up by the entrance. I’ve lived in this area for a long time, so I know most of the drivers who pass through Kadodara regularly. Some days the heat is really something else, especially when you’re working on a truck that’s been sitting out in the sun. I don’t use any fancy computer systems to track things, just a big ledger where I write down what was done and what parts were used. It’s a practical way to keep things moving. Sometimes a job takes longer than expected because a wire is snapped in a hard-to-reach place, but that’s just how it goes. We stay open until fairly late because you never know when someone’s headlights might quit on them. It’s just honest labor in a busy part of town.
